How much entropy does a session token need?
OWASP recommends at least 128 bits. A 22-character alphanumeric token gives ~131 bits. The default 32-character token gives ~190 bits — well above any practical attack threshold.
Should session tokens include symbols?
Not usually — tokens stored in cookies or HTTP headers can be corrupted by special characters. Stick to alphanumeric for maximum compatibility.
