Frequently Asked Questions
Are coupon codes and discount codes the same?
They serve the same purpose but the term "coupon" is more common in North American e-commerce while "voucher" is more common in Europe.
How many characters should a coupon code be?
Eight to twelve characters is the sweet spot — long enough to avoid guessing but short enough for customers to type manually. Use uppercase letters and digits only to avoid confusion.
How do I import generated coupon codes into Shopify?
Export to CSV from this tool, then go to Shopify Admin → Discounts → Import. Map the code column and set the discount amount, type and expiry in the import settings.
How do I check my new coupon codes against ones I already used?
Paste the new codes and your existing codes into ListDiff's Compare Two Lists. Anything shown as appearing in both lists has already been used; the rest are safe to issue. It runs entirely in your browser.
